The Community Outreach Program was initiated by St. Joseph’s English Medium School. It was an opportunity to interact with the marginalized people in and around the school. Through this program we aim at community participation. The Outreach program enables the students to meet with the daily demand faced by the ordinary people in the community for counseling, support, direction, recognition and also assists many basic necessities such as shelter, food, clothing, employment opportunities and medical services. Relying upon the development of trustworthy and unconditional relationships, the students can strive to motivate and empower these people to explore their options and meet new challenges to work towards bettering their current life situations. Monitoring progress and offering encouragement and support as a follow up is also an important function of the outreach programme. The role of this programme is diverse and holistic in nature. During the summer vacation Principal, Vice- principal and the staff visited the villages close to the school. They spent time with the women and children to educate them, impart ideas for development, and identify their talents to nurture them. They conducted games and encouraged the winners of various games with incentives. They appreciated and motivated them for progress and resilience. Thus made the summer vacation an enriching experience.
