Republic Day marks the adoption of India’s Constitution and the country’s transition to a republic on January 26, 1950. The Republic day was celebrated with patriotic zeal and zest in St. Joseph’s English Medium School, Sankarakhol.
Children learn about India’s political history, freedom struggle, and the Constitution as part of their curriculum. They know how the great sons of the motherland have fought to attain freedom and make India a sovereign state. Therefore, the children felt inspired and participated actively in the Republic Day celebration in the school and did their bit to strengthen India’s Republic and Democratic values. They paid tribute to the National flag by marching fast and singing the National Anthem. Chief Guest of the day, Mr Manoranjan Patri, Bank Manager of SBI Sankarakhol, unfurled the National Flag and gave an inspiring message to students. Students were made aware of the cultural heritage and other aspects of India and felt pride in being a citizen of a country with a rich cultural past. Students were encouraged to preserve their varied national heritage and assume a sense of social responsibility.
Guest of Honour Mr Chittaranjan Ganda, Junior Commission Officer, Amritsar, Punjab, explained the significance and the sacrifice of the great men who gave away their lives for the nation’s cause. He motivated the students to be enlightened citizens of the country, to participate in the development and improvement of the society around them, to be aware of the challenges that the country faces and resolve to find answers and contribute to the nation’s progress since they are the future of the country. He distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions.
The celebration ended with the National song of our country and a vote of thanks, thanking the guests of the day, parents, principal, manager, teachers and students.
