Utkal Divas was celebrated with much pomp and gaiety at St. Joseph’s English Medium school, Sankarakhol to commemorate the formation of Odisha as a separate province. Like every year, this year too a Special gathering was conducted to mark the glorious occasion. It was graced by the Vice- Principal, Sr. Lilly Baliar Signh who shared the heritage of Odisha with the Josephites.  She also spoke about the freedom fighters like Shri Madhusudhan Das, Shri Gopabandhu Das, Shri Radhanath Ray, Shri Fakirmohan Senapati etc.

Our senior Odia teacher gave an insight on the sacrifices and selfless efforts of the great leaders of the state that led to the formation of Odisha on April 1, 1936. She advised the people of Odisha to render their contribution in their own way towards the growth and development of the state.

Josephite teachers payed a floral honor to the great leaders, presented a cultural show of song and poetry to pay their heartfelt tribute to the legendary heroes of the soil. They also spoke about the role of the great leaders that paved path for making Odisha the first state in India to be formed on the basis of language. It concluded with the State song ‘Vande Utkala Janani’.
